Opening of the Macao MPI-BMM Testing Centre for Gaming Devices

Following the signing of an exclusive agreement between the Macau Polytechnic Institute (MPI) and BMM last December, the Testing Laboratory located on MPI’s premises is now officially open and ready to provide a range of testing services for the Macao Gaming Industry.

Macau Polytechnic Institute’s President, Professor Lei, and Mr. Peter Turner, Managing Director of BMM, addressed an audience of representatives from each sector of the Gaming industry: manufacturers, operators, regulators and officials.

Professor Lei emphasized the uniqueness of the MPI-BMM Testlab,”… MPI and BMM will set up Asia's first testing centre for gaming devices. Its primary task is to develop a set of suitable gaming standards for Macao. As for its employment, the centre shall give the priority to Macao local technicians. Its main business is to provide test and certification services for gaming devices such as slot machines and casino electronic equipment. The centre aims to develop a set of certification standards for local gaming devices, and offer training for local technicians to master professional and technical certification and employment opportunity.”  Professor Lei also expressed his, “…gratitude to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), gaming companies in Macao and those who have constantly supported our Institute.”

Mr. Peter Turner again thanked the Macao Polytechnic Institute for the opportunity to participate in the establishment of the MPI-BMM Test Lab following MPI’s rigorous selection process to find an Independent Testlab that could provide exceptional testing services, global expertise and consultancy to the entire Gaming industry in Macao. He also welcomed the opportunity of working with DICJ to help develop the gaming standards for Macao.
The Testlab has already employed local engineers that have been trained by senior engineers from BMM’s Australian lab. The Centre will be serving local operators and manufacturers from the region and around the globe.
